Stay in a historic gatehouse on the edge of castle grounds at Lythe Lodge, a charming stone-built “chocolate box” cottage nestled on the edge of the Mulgrave Estate and bordering the grounds of Mulgrave Castle.
Combining countryside tranquillity with easy access to the coast, this characterful cottage offers the perfect balance of rural charm and seaside escape, all within easy reach of Sandsend beach and the North Yorkshire coastline.
Inside, the cottage accommodates up to four guests across two bright and spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, while the second bedroom offers twin beds along with a small en-suite comprising a washbasin and toilet. A separate shower room serves the property.
The welcoming lounge provides a peaceful place to relax, whether enjoying the woodland views during the day or unwinding beside the wood-burning stove in the evening with a favourite book or film on the smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen creates an open and sociable space for cooking and dining together.
Throughout the cottage, many original features have been carefully retained, adding to its warmth and character.
Outside, guests can enjoy a beautifully maintained enclosed garden with both lawned and patio areas, complete with outdoor seating and a picnic table. The property is also pet friendly, making it ideal for countryside walks with your four-legged companions.
Additional features include WiFi, bike storage, an outhouse utility area with boot storage, and private parking for up to two cars to the rear of the cottage.

Lythe Lodge is a detached cottage.
Entrance is at the rear of the property. Leading into the kitchen diner.
Kitchen / Diner: Under stairs storage for coats and shoes. Large well-equipped kitchen with a range of wall and base units. Range cooker, electric hob, oven & grill, integral dishwasher, microwave, kettle & toaster. Freestanding fridge freezer, Dolce Gusto coffee machine. Antique solid wood dining table and chairs.
Lounge: 2-seater & 3-seater sofas. Smart TV. Oak TV unit ,coffee table and occasional tables. Floor lamp. Wood burning stove (a starter pack of kindling & logs is provided, additional can be purchased from Mulgrave Estate Sawmill, Mary's & Lythe stores)

Shower room: Corner walk-in shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet. Illuminated mirror and freestanding storage.
Master Bedroom: King size bed, bedside tables with lamps. Tallboy wardrobe with drawers. Dressing table, mirror & stool.
Bedroom 2: Twin beds, bedside tables with lamps. Built in wardrobe with hanging space and shelves. Long wall mounted mirror & stool.

TV: Please note due to the unique valley and woodland location of the cottages, on occasion a terrestrial signal with any consistency may be intermittent and in some cases, not at all.
In all Mulgrave Estate holiday cottages you will find smart TVs and we would ask that you utilise the likes of BBC iPlayer to watch both live TV and of course, to access catch up.
Note: Please note that the front door of this property is with in the Mulgrave Estate Grounds and is for emergency exit only.
